Valentino

Please read the note at the end of this blog post

This is Valentino, his name means strong in Italian. He's a gorgeous boy who has endured more pain than any living being should ever be subjected to. Sweet Valentino was a victim of unthinkable cruelty, and now has third degree chemical burns on a large portion of his body. He also has a row of lacerations that resemble damage done from a whip, wire, or even a weed whacker as suggested by the vet tech (who had unfortunately seen that injury before). He's also emaciated and severely malnourished.

Valentino is out of Devore and is safe with us. However, his road to recovery will be a very, very long one. While his injuries look better at a glance, I found out that last night he has a large area of skin that is dying. They cannot do surgery right now because he is not strong enough, and it runs a risk of more skin dying.

As of 4/10, his bill is over $600. That's  fraction of what his long-term treatment will cost.
Update 5/5, his expenses have exceeded $3,000
Update 6/2, I paid off his bill today, woo-hoo!
Update 6/28 , Tino is having medical problems.... and after manipulating my account and using Tino for exposure, Crown Valley wants to kick Tino out and is now charging more than a mortgage payment for a house in Coto De Caza for their pet hotel "suites" - Thank you Sharon for stealing $1,500 for my dogs surgery

URGENT PDATE: We really need help to find a GOOD trainer for Valentino. It's hard to find people to trust who aren't just going to use his story for publicity, use us for the money we don't have, and then push all of us away. :(

Please help The Animal Pad to share Valentino's story and help raise funds for his treatment!

Upcoming Rescue

This poor boy is currently at the shelter and not only is he extremely fearful, he's in what I can only guess to be agonizing pain. My heart broke as soon as I saw him, and I would not leave the shelter without checking with my amazing partners to ensure we could save this baby...and we are going to.

If you would like to donate toward his care, please check back tomorrow. I'll keep everyone updated, and once we have him (and our vet estimate) you'll be able to donate via the chipin link on this blog, or make a payment right to our vet. We could REALLY use an extra large kennel and/or a soft one would be nice, too. Any items to help make him more comfortable would be greatly appreciated. We will be able to cover his expenses and get all necessary items for him regardless, but whatever we're able to save is what we can put toward saving more dogs like him. :)

We will announce via Facebook/Email once we have his vet estimate but are posting him now because we're preparing in advance so he will have a set-up waiting for him as soon as he's out of the vet.

Here are his pictures, which are pretty graphic. He has chemical burns covering a large area of his upper body, as well as some lacerations that look like they could possibly be from a razor or even from a whip-type item.
